In this video, I show you guys a day in the life of owning and operating an ewaste recycling business!
I own an electronics recycling business in USA which focuses on refurbishing and/or scrapping electronic devices to make sure that there is as little waste as possible.
As you can see in the video, owning and operating an ewaste recycling business is no small task. Not only do items have to be separated and grouped into their respective item classes, but margin calls need to be made as to which items will we resold to the public. The ability to do this comes down to two skills, understanding the market values of items as well as the ability to repair and prep said items for acquisition.
As an entrepreneur, it feels good to know that I am able to run my own business and keep the doors open. But, to know that my work has a positive effect on our environment by making sure that everything that passes through my facility is recycled or reused gives me a sense of pride I cannot explain!
The importance of recycling your old and/or unused electronics is because we harvest raw materials from the earth such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum and much more just to make said devices. For them to just sit in a drawer or closet once replaced is something that is unacceptable and should be addressed. If you are not using the device or if it is broken and you do not want to sell it online, the only other alternative should be to recycle it! That way, the materials used to make said device can be reused in new items in a multitude of industries instead of forcing us to harvest new materials, essentially depleting the earth! Please be responsible with your electronics and be part of a movement that will change the way the entire electronics industry functions!
