This is a huge problem and one I've battled in secret, too overwhelmed and stressed to seek help. So I hope this helps another mum.
I filmed this when Evelina was just 2 weeks old so forgive the tiredness. My old enemy is back - the oversupply of breastmilk. This issue meant I couldn't breastfeed my first baby and it took my all my willpower to feed my second. People think this is a 'good problem' but it's not; she chokes and gags on my milk, she gets terrible wind and colic, then she refuses the breast as it's too stressful. With the boys I had terrible engorgement and mastitis plus deep thrush on both breasts. I felt alone, and embarrassed as well as a yucky milky covered mess. My confidence...well what confidence, I had zero. I didn't want to leave the house for fear I would have to feed or I would leak. This wasn't a bonding experience, it was torture.
This is a story I've been dying to tell. I just wanted one person to say they had it to, and that they understood and it was terrible and I was doing a good job. And I've found that online.
Here are my tips for reducing milk supply, storing your breastmilk, using breastshells and the breast pump, block feeding and more. To cope with just one more feed. And if you can't cope, stop. Fed Is Best!
